Aaron Brandt Smyser Pd.8 Honors English 3/13/11 Langston Hughes Harlem Renaissance, an era full of scorch history and pride. The music was swinging with the colors of the Afro-Ameri depose rhythm. Hughes chose, in his literature, to speak of the troubles and past of African-American citizens, living in the Harlem area of New York. His poem I, Too, rundle of the oppression of pitch-black citizens. Saying he is made to prey in the kitchen when company is there, because they do not deficiency him to be seen. However it makes a drastic change in the attached stanza saying that he will not eat in the kitchen in the future.

His poem represents the change that will come in the future when African-American citizens are equal to the white citizens. He uses his poems to speak of the history of the black community and the pride of their people. How can such strong meanings be considered anything but poetic? Langston Hughes was a great poet of the Harlem Renaissance era. His poems held strong meaning and purpose to the black community and held the strength of the meaning of jazz.
