Social inceptions are organized patterns of beliefs and behaviors revolve around on basic social needs. Typically, contemporary sociologists use the consideration to refer to complex social forms that reproduce themselves such as governments, the family, human languages, universities, hospitals, business corporations, and legal systems (SEP, 2007, para. 1). One such institution is the troop-media. The term can mean many disparate things to different people; however it typically will include newspaper, radio, television, telecommunications and the Internet. Social institutions give sociologists insight into the structure of a society and the mass media is an institution that can encompass many facets of our daily lives and is arguably the catalyst for many social changes and the re-enforcer of social behaviors, whether they are substantially or detrimental.
Social theory is a set of statements that seeks to beg off problems, actions or behaviors (Schaeffer, 2009, pg. 14). These theories are basically the view point of the sociologist or observer, which have been established to help explain the reasoning croupe certain behaviors in our society.

In this paper, we will explore the jounce that three social theories (functionalist perspective, conflict perspective and interactionist perspective) have had on the mass media in regard to behavior or base changes within that particular institution and in society as a whole.
