Acid rain also raises the acidulousness of steams, rivers, and lakes, which can harm and sometimes kill life in the water. The acids in acid rain also react with the CaCO3 in marble and limestone, which can cause damage to statues and buildings.
Lakes with limestone beds are less affected by acid rain because the limestone reacts with the acids in acid rain. The acid is turned into CO2 which has a less barbarian effect on the lake. Lakes with granite beds however, dont absorb the acid like limestone bed lakes do, so the acid stays in the water where it can build up.
