Through English and American primary and secondary evidence, sometimes in the form of quotations from credible Puritan sources, in his book, Worldly Saints: The Puritans As They Really Were, Leland challenges these beliefs. In this book, the author proposes to untangle a web of numerous and reoccurring misconceptions about Puritan life and behaviors by laying down a more accurate platform of their nature and culture.
